Otwarcie fontanny nastąpiło 4 czerwca 2009 roku, dając miastu atrakcję turystyczną przyciągającą tysiące turystów i mieszkańców na multimedialne show odbywające się w sezonie letnim. Koszt budowy fontanny wyniósł 12 milionów zł., a autorem projektu była Pracownia Projektowa Archad - Artur Moryson.
